5 times a stranger
This is the story of Stavros, a 75 years old wood sculptor, who became five times a stranger in different countries because of decisions taken by others.
Wars, political conflicts, poverty and mistrust shaped a circle which started at his small, remote village in Greece and crossed Albania, Hungary, Austria, Sweden to end up in Greece once again. Our character, one of the million sufferers of the Cold War Doctrine, faced communism in Hungary, nationalism of Austria, met with the military regime in Greece and enjoyed the freedom and tolerance of the Swedish society in the 70’s. Accompanied by his art, Stavros today lives alone and often glances across his abandoned village, claiming with a smile: “History is written by the winners”.
